Relaxation, courtesy, sunsets and spectacular beaches on Elba
This is a place people come to because they want to feel free, welcomed like old friends with a cordiality and helpfulness rarely found nowadays. It only takes a few minutes to feel at home and savour the peace of this lesser-known corner of the island of Elba, well away from the crowded resorts.
Da Angiolina offers diffused hospitality at La Zanca, a promontory above the marvellous sandy beach of Sant'Andrea, famous for the distinctive granite rock formations at either end and its crystal-clear sea.
As well as its main complex with apartments and Bed & Breakfast rooms, it also provides more independent holiday homes short distances away.
Its main characteristic is its peace and quiet, with breath-taking views of Corsica, a wonderful sight every evening when the sun and sky put on a truly awe-inspiring show, with colours that are different every time. The rosemary and lavender bushes and the ancient pine trees mingle their fragrances with the wind to create a unique, unforgettable perfume.
The immaculately clean pool, with the grass always perfectly cut by Amedeo, is the finishing touch of the whole location, a place for delightful hours of complete relaxation, especially before dinner. Small children's playground and large car park.
The summer temperature is a little cooler than in seaside areas, a positive factor especially during the night.
The location is very quiet, away from the centre, but is still served by a convenience store, bars and restaurants at the Sant'Andrea beach just 5 minutes away, also connected by a shuttle service run by the Municipality of Marciana from June to September. This service also links La Zanca to other places including Patresi, Marciana, Marciana Marina and Procchio.
Guests who choose the Bed & Breakfast option may take breakfast at the bar or in the garden.
Behind La Zanca stands the Monte Capanne massif, 1019 metres high and offering a sweeping view in all directions. It is ideal, especially in spring and autumn, for walks amidst the fragrances and bright colours of the Mediterranean vegetation, pines and chestnut trees in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.
Anyone wishing for a little nightlife can go down to Sant'Andrea, which has outdoor venues with bars and music, always with a laid-back vibe, or head for Marciana or Marciana Marina, the nearest, well organised towns, where various events are held during the season.
